flirtatiousmischief:

He tilted his head just so as he thought of all of the things he had gone through in her absence so to speak. He shook his thought and returned his gaze back to hers promptly. He figured he would still feel a bit guilty no matter how much time the pair were now able to spend together. If anything, he knew that he would have Saki by his side now, just as it should be. He was still a little hesitant but things just made so much more sense when she was near. So maybe he could bring himself to let it go. For her, he would. And he knew she’d be there to help him every step of the way.

For an instant, he realized how foolish he was for ever thinking that they were going to break up. After all, how could he ever forget that moment he had alone with her? He recalled how good it felt to wrap his arms around her as he did. How warm she had felt within his embrace. He would never forget their time together and he certainly wasn’t about to doubt Saki. If anything, he deemed it his own fault should such an event happen and though he was fully prepared for it, he had an ounce of doubt  that it was true and he was needless to say relieved to have that time with her. And he was sure there would be many more moments yet to come.

Now that they were here, both of them together again at last, he was happy to have her come back into his life. Whatever had occurred between them in the past was all said and done now. And none of the guilt or shame he had held onto for so long mattered now. All that mattered now, in this moment, was her.

He exhaled as his hand still clung onto hers. He had missed her touch greatly and the fact that he was free from the gang life he’d left behind, he was more than pleased to be able to have the normal life he had always wanted. He’d always hoped that when it came to this, she would be right at his side and as fate would have it, she of course was.

Hearing her speak again, he gulped and blushed furiously in response. He shook it off though and kept his eyes locked on her beautiful face.

“Yeah, I know. I shouldn’t ask such a silly question, huh?”

In the back of his mind, he knew that she was right. There was nothing at all holding him back now and she had made it perfectly clear that she wanted it just as much as he did. He gave a small shrug as his smile widened and he let go of her hand to pull her close, wrapping his arms around her in the same manner he had once done before. He brushed a stray lock of her hair away from her face and leaned in gently shutting his eyes. Just as the last bit of sunset was beginning to fade, he kissed her softly on her smooth pink lips. It felt just as he remembered. Better even. And he felt his heart soar with joy. He lingered for a while before finally, painfully pulling away and admired her tenderly.

When Kida had been admitted to the hospital and Saki finally got her first alone, face to face time with him in over a year, it was unlikely that she’d ever forget it. Not after she’d finally realized that she loved Kida on her own accord and not because Izaya told her to be. In a strange sort of way, it was a good thing that Izaya had even brought them together, because in the end Saki was what brought Kida away from the gang life once and for all, and Kida was the person to help free Saki from Izaya’s psychological and emotional hold on her. Perhaps the informant had inadvertently done something right.

It’s okay Kida, there’s a blush dusting Saki’s cheeks too, so you’re not alone. She’d almost forgotten how easily flustered he could become in the right circumstances, but then again this was almost an exception to the rule.

The seconds were ticking down to when he’d close the gap between them entirely, and the motion of it all was quite fluid. Letting go of her hand, slipping his arms around her waist, pulling her against him, and finally leaning down to kiss her for the first time in over a year. It was bittersweet in a way, but sweet more than anything else. When Kida’s lips pressed against hers and the kiss began, a breath was blown out of Saki’s nose that she didn’t even know she was holding. Then her arms could tighten around him just a bit more, prolong the moment as much as she could. His lips tasted exactly as she remembered. Saki couldn’t pinpoint an exact taste there, but it was still a perfect moment nonetheless.

Her heart fell a little when Kida pulled back, even if it was just a few mere inches. As good as she still felt with him in front of her, the moment had almost seemed too short. But then again it would’ve felt that way regardless probably, they had a whole year to make up for. Even so, the look of adoration he was giving her was easily being reciprocated, and seems she couldn’t resist giving him one more little peck on the lips.

“How’s that for your kiss?”
